Chris Pughe has joined Clarion Wealth Planning as a summer intern. Having completed two years of undergraduate study at the University of Newcastle for a degree in Economics and Finance (BSc), Chris is spending his internship providing additional support to Clarion’s Head of Operations, Simon Baggott, and working alongside its Finance Manager, Matt Sherratt, before embarking on his final year at university.
During his time at Clarion, Chris has provided invaluable assistance within the finance department, reconciling income and helping to facilitate the reconciliation of client asset records following Clarion’s recent move to their new back-office system, CURO. In addition, Chris has taken the responsibility of acting as an intermediary and the sole point of contact between Clarion and its IT providers; reporting, managing and resolving any technical issues on behalf of the team. Simon Baggott said: “Chris is a great addition to the team and I know his time here will help our business. I really feel that his personality is a great fit with our core values, whilst his enthusiasm, intelligence and willingness to really get involved meant that he has settled straight into the team.”
Chris initially came to Clarion on a work experience placement in 2013 following his GCSEs. Simon Baggott added “I was delighted when Chris asked us if we could accommodate a summer intern. I had remembered Chris from his short time working with us before and liked his approach to getting in touch and wanting to be part of Clarion.”
When asked about his time at Clarion, Chris said: “I’ve learned how a successful company that is still growing operates and how an exceptional set of staff work alongside each other in a team. It has also given me an incredible insight and experience into wealth management and furthered my interest in financial planning and investment management – which I intend to pursue after my degree.”
Asked what he likes most about Clarion, Chris added: “What I like about Clarion the most is the people. They are so welcoming and I have genuinely learned something from everyone during my time here. I feel very fortunate to have been a part of Clarion, even if it was only for a couple of months, and it has really given me a direction to pursue a career in.”
The team is very grateful for all Chris’s hard work and would like to wish him well with his future studies.
