As temperatures soared to a mighty 28 degrees on one of the hottest Fridays of the summer recently, the Clarion team embarked on a scenic 10-mile ramble to Shining Tor to raise funds for Circus Starr.

Armed with sunscreen, water bottles and litter bags, the team set off at a leisurely pace to enjoy the stunning views over the Cheshire plains and Peak District, taking in the hills of the Clwydian Range in North Wales and the Wrekin in Shropshire (almost 50 miles distant), as well as numerous local landmarks, including Shutlingsloe, and the large Lovell radio telescope at Jodrell Bank.

Once completed, a well earnt lunch was enjoyed at The Swan in Kettleshulme with stories of past walks in the area shared by Clarion’s own tour guide, Steven Walker.

Following the walk, the team has made a charity donation to Circus Starr. Circus Starr is a touring circus boasting world-class, professional artists from across the globe who, via charity donations, provide free seats for disadvantaged, disabled or vulnerable children in the local area.

Circus Starr return to Macclesfield with their distinctive blue and yellow Big Top and a spectacular line up of circus acts on Wednesday 5th September 2018.
