We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. For over seventy years she has dedicated her life to service for her country and the Commonwealth and been a figurehead of national unity and stability at a time of enormous change.
The death of a 96-year-old does not come as a surprise, but the speed of events did come as a profound shock to us all.
Her Majesty knew for some time that she had important meetings with both the outgoing and incoming Prime Ministers, and it was as if she had steeled herself to see those two jobs through before relaxing and allowing herself to slip away.
This was a supreme example of how throughout her life she put her country and her people first.
While being Monarch she raised a loving family whom she adored, and they her. As HRH Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh was to her, she has been our nation’s strength and stay. We join the Royal Family and the nation in their grief and offer the Royal Family our heartfelt condolences.
As a mark of respect, our offices will be closed on Monday, 19 September, for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s State funeral.
