We are delighted to have helped save a charity that supports young people who are struggling at school or becoming involved in crime from closing due to Covid-19.

We donated £3,000 to Challenge 4 Change because we are passionate about investing in the future of young people in the North West.

The charity, based in Trafford Park, helps turn around the lives of children as young as eight years old who are struggling in school and at risk of exclusion or becoming involved in crime.

It is also used by disability groups and pupils making the transition to secondary school.

Christine Chew, from Challenge 4 Change, said: “The donation from Clarion Wealth Planning has been a godsend. We have been closed for four months and are still getting many postponements due to coronavirus. Without this support, we may not have been here next year to open for the rebookings. It, along with a grant from the council and furloughing staff, has saved us.”

The indoor urban activity centre offers bespoke programmes to boost self-esteem by encouraging people to face their fears through highly structured challenges. Taking on the aerial high wire course and activities from axe-throwing to zip wires improves problem-solving; communication skills; teamwork; conflict resolution and anger management.

Challenge 4 Change can take its mission to challenge people to change their lives on the road. The charity’s converted double-decker bus is a mobile training centre with a zip wire, traversing wall and hosts team-building and problem-solving activities out in the community.

Keith Thompson said: “Clarion staff took part in a team-building day at Challenge 4 Change last year where they were pushed to the limit. We could immediately see the value in what they did and how it could benefit many different groups in society. Having supported them last year we wanted to make sure we continued to back the charity during the current difficult circumstances. At times like this, it is important that those can help, do so.”

Challenge 4 Change also offers team building, leadership and communication skills courses for businesses, sports teams, families and friend groups as well as meeting and conference facilities.
