Meet Matt Sherratt

What is your role at Clarion?

I am the Finance Manager and responsible for the day-to-day financial operations at Clarion. I also have responsibilities in relation to the compliance and governance of the Clarion Group of companies.

How did you take your first steps in to Financial Planning?

While I have worked in the Financial Services sector as an accountant since 2005, Clarion is the first company I have worked at which specialises in Financial Planning.

What do you think Clarion offers its clients that makes us unique?

The level of client focus; the determination to ensure the best for the client and willingness to turn away clients if it is felt that they would not benefit from the service offered by Clarion

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learnt in your role?

The beneficial impact Financial Planning can have on client’s life.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I always knew I wanted to be involved in the financial side of running or supporting a business but didn’t at that age know in what capacity.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?

Sir Steve Redgrave. For his achievements through adversity, determination, drive and longevity. It is also influenced by the fact I was heavily involved in rowing when I was growing up.

What keeps you awake at night?

New processes or procedures, as I tend to go through them in my mind until I am happy I have everything covered.

Describe your perfect weekend

Clear, crisp weather, time spent outside on activities such as mountain biking, walking or canoeing with the family followed by a pub with good food and beer from a local brewery.

Spring, summer, autumn or winter?

Spring.
