True lifelong financial planning
for the serious business of life.

Meet Peter Butcher

What is your role at Clarion?

Chartered Financial Planner. It’s a great role as I find helping my clients very rewarding.

How did you take your first steps into Financial Planning?

I graduated from university and got a place on a Graduate Development Programme for aspiring Financial Planners. The Graduate Programme allowed me to work through my exams while gaining experience in the industry. After five years I got the opportunity to join the team at Clarion – the rest is history!

What do you think Clarion offers its clients that makes us unique?

An ever-improving service that is shaped from the discussions that we have had with our clients over the years. Despite the fact that we already provide a high-quality service to all our clients, the whole team at Clarion are always trying to find ways to make the service that we provide in the coming year, better than the one that’s just been. It’s a high bar that we set ourselves and it’s not always easy to improve on, but that’s our focus.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learnt in your role?

That time is our most valuable asset and that we should all make a conscious choice about what we spend our limited time doing. At Clarion, we work with our clients to help them determine how they want to spend their time. We then tailor our advice to ensure that they spend as much of their time as possible doing the things they love.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A fireman. Specifically, Fireman Sam!

Who has inspired you in your life and why?

I think different people inspire you in different ways. When you’re younger you are inspired by a role model’s example – but now, I’m inspired to be a role model for my daughter. She is what gets me out of bed in the morning – literally and figuratively!

What keeps you awake at night?

Very little to be honest. I’m one of those irritating people who can fall asleep seconds after my head hits the pillow.

Spring, summer, autumn or winter?

Summer. Longer days, warmer weather – perfect.
