Today, also marks World Financial Planning Day: a day that aims to raise awareness of the value of financial planning, of having a financial plan, and of working with a competent and professional financial planner who puts the clients’ interests first.
So, throughout October we will be sharing content from our trusted team of financial planners at Clarion.
First up this week is John Winstanley, Financial Planner and Business Development Director at Clarion, who will share how true lifelong financial planning can help you live for today and plan for tomorrow – from family finances to retirement and selling a business.
John on true lifelong financial planning:
John said: “Clarion provides true lifelong financial planning for the serious business of life. A lot of firms that operate in this industry focus on investment performance and numbers and what the client’s pension is worth this year, which is important, but we expand on that and think more long term about your investments and life goals.
“We can demonstrate to a client what their finances might look like in 10, 15, 20 years time from now and that gives them clarity of their financial future and enables them to make better decisions today about the things they want to do.
“When I have spoken to clients recently, the conversation narrows down to two concerns: one is that the client runs out of money in their lifetime, and thankfully very few of our clients do, but the other worst-case scenario is that clients die with too much money.
“That is generally a consequence of them not spending enough during their lifetimes and truly living a fulfilled retirement or fulfilled life when they have been able to or could have helped out their children and grandchildren more, but perhaps have been afraid to do so as they thought it might affect their financial future. I think with true lifelong financial planning we are able to take those concerns away and help people make better decisions now – for themselves and their family.”
